Sweet Pastry

Great for fruit, pudding or other sweet pie.

Makes 1 9 1/2 inch crust

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Flour for dusting
  • 1 oz superfine sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • grease for greasing baking dish

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour and sugar in bowl. Rub in butter then add water. Mix to form a soft dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.

Grease 9 1/2 inch pie or tart pan. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 9 1/2 inch round. Place dough in pan and prick with fork. Cover with plastic and chill again for 30 minutes.

Line pie shell with foil and fill with baking weight (baking beans, dry beans, etc). Bake in oven heated to 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove baking weights and bake for another 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and fill/cook as desired.
