Philly-style Mac and cheese

Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 lb sliced fresh mushtrooms
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1 cup bef broth
  • 2 cups (8 ox) shreddd provolone cheese
  • 2 cups (8 oz) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tst garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 pkg (10 1/2 oz) frozen steak-um slicd steaks, browned
  • (I used deli roast beef and didn't brown)
  • 1/2 cup French-Fried onions

Preparation

Step 1

Cook macaroni according to parkage directions.
Saute the mushrooms, onion, and green peppers in butter in a large skillet until tender.
Stir in flour until blended: gradually add milk and broth.
Bring to a boil: cook and stir for 2 mins. or until thickened.
Reduce heat and add cheeses, and spices.
Drain macaroni and add to sauce. Add steak.

Transfer to a greasd baking dish (13 x 9), sprinkle with fried onions.
Bake 25-30 minutes until bubbly.
