Almond Butter Toffee

Ingredients

  • 2 cups butter
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 cups slivered almonds
  • 12 oz. package chocolate morsels
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Preparation

Step 1

1. Melt butter in saucepan.

2. Add sugar. Raise heat. Stir constantly until mixture bubbles around edges of pan.

3. Add cream of tartar and almonds. Stir constantly until mixture turns a caramel color.

4. Pour into 2 buttered cookie sheets (1 large and 1 medium), spreading thin. (Does not matter if mixture goes to the corners, as you will be breaking toffee into pieces.)

5. Pour chocolate chips on top of toffee. The heat from the toffee will melt chocolate. As chocolate melts, spread with a knife.

6. Sprinkle with pecans.

7. Refrigerate until chocolate is hard and candy is cooled. Break into pieces.
