Ingredients

  • Icing:
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 t. salt
  • 1/4 c. margarine (I use butter)
  • 1 egg
  • 6 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. soft butter, 1-2 t. vanilla, 2 c. plus powdered sugar, a few T. hot milk

Preparation

Step 1

1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
2. Add sugar, salt and 1/2 flour. Mix.
3. Add egg and margarine.
4. Add rest of flour one cup at a time.

Dough will be stiff. Knead a little. Cover and refrigerate atleast 2 hours.
Take out and punch it. Divide dough in half. Roll out. Spread with melted butter (using a brush), brown sugar
and cinnamon (plus raisins and nuts, if desired). I do not use straight cinnamon, but "cinnamon sugar," a blend
of cinnamon and white sugar. Roll up and slice (approximately 12 rolls per mound). Place on greased cookie sheet.
Let rise for 1 to 1/2 hours. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
