Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 l/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • l/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. with rack in the center of the oven. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

In the bowl of your electric mixer, cream the butter. Add the white and brown sugars to the butter and beat until fluffy (about 2 minutes). Beat in eggs one at a time making sure to beat well after each addition. Add the vanilla and beat until it is incorporated.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture and beat until incorporated adding the chocolate chips about half way through mixing.

For large cookies, use about a 2 tablespoon ice cream scoop or spoon about 2 tablespoons of cookie dough onto parchment paper. Bake about 12-14 minutes or until golden brown around the edges. Cool completely on wire rack.
