Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup milk
Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter,shortening,sugar and eggs. Beat mixture. Combine flour,salt,baking powder. Add alternately with milk to first mixture. Stir in flavorings.
1 tsp almond flavoring
1 tsp butter flavoring
1 tsp coconut flavoring
1 tsp rum flavoring
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
Pour into gresed bundt pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes.
Turn cake out of pan onto wire rack. Place waxed paper under rack to catch glaze drippings. Slowly spoon Five Flavor Glaze onto top of hot cake. Cool completely.
To make the Five Flavor Glaze: In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water and 1/2 teaspoon each flavoring almond, butter, coconut, rum, and vanilla. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
