This is one of the best chili recipies I've tried. You can monitor the taste by the amount of chili powder you add.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 # ground beef - 80% lean
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 1# can tomatoes
  • 6 T ketchup
  • 2 t salt
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • 1 t chili powder (or to taste)
  • 1 T sugar (rounded)

Preparation

Step 1

Saute ground beef and onion till meat is no longer pink. Do not overcook, meat will become tough.

Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Lower heat to simmer. Cover and cook for 25-30 minutes. Skim any grease from top.

You can double this for a large group.
Great with cornbread.
