Ingredients
- Filling:
- 5 cups peeled and sliced apples or pears
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 cup cranberries
- 3 tbsp tapioca
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine
- Dough:
- 3/4 cup flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
- 3 tbsp milk
Preparation
Step 1
Mix apples, sugar, cranberries, tapioca, cinnamon and water in a large saucepan. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full boil. Pour into a 2-quart baking dish. Dot with butter.
To make the dough, mix flour, 2 tbsp sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk until soft dough forms. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto hot apple mixture.
Bake at 375 F for 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown. Serve warm.
