Green Tea Candy Cane Cookies

  • 1 1/8 c. butter
  • 1 c. confectioners' sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 t. almond extract
  • 1 t. vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 3/4 t. salt
  • 1 T. matcha green tea powder
  • 1/2 c. crushed candy canes mixed with 1/2 c. granulated sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix butter and sugar until well combined. Add egg and extracts; combine well. Mix in flour and salt. Divide dough in half and add matcha powder to half of the dough and blend well.

Take about 1" ball of each color of dough and roll each into 4" strip. Lay the strips side-by-side and then twist together. Bend the top to form a candy cane shape. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 F for 7-9 minutes, until cookies are set and just barely beginning to brown on the bottom.

Place some wax paper on a cooling rack. Carefully remove hot cookies from pan and place on cooling rack. While cookies are still hot, sprinkle with the candy cane and sugar mixture.

Let cool before serving.
