- 2 cups White Lily self-rising flour
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 2/3 to 3/4 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 500. Measure and place flour in a bowl. Cut shortening in until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Blend in buttermilk with a fork until dough just comes together. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and pat out to 1/2 thickness. Cut biscuits without twisting the cutter and place on baking sheet with sides just touching. Bake 8-10 minutes or until done.
Makes 12 2-inch biscuits.
