Ingredients
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
- 4 lbs. ground beef
- 2 cups water
- 2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1 (4 oz.) can diced green chiles
- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 1/4 cup chili sauce
- 1 jalapeno, chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
Preparation
Step 1
Heat oil in a large soup pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add garlic, onion, bell pepper, and celery; saute until tender. Add beef; cook, stirring constantly, until meat is brown.
Add water, tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, green chiles, chili powder, chili sauce, jalapeno and salt, stirring until well blended. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 1 hour. Adjust seasonings, if necessary.
Serve with green salad and cornbread twists or toasted cornbread. Delicious!
