Parmesan Broiled Tilapia

Ingredients

  • 4 Tilapia Fillets (defrosted if frozen)
  • 1/4 Cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/8 Cup Butter
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Mayo/Dressing (I use Hellmann's Light)
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Fresh Dill
  • Pepper to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Turn broiler onto high and adjust oven rack to the top.

In a small bowl, combine all ingredients except the tilapia. Set aside.

Place tilapia fillets on a foil lined pan.

Remove from the oven, flip over and divide the parmesan mixture over the uncooked sides of the tilapia.

Return to the oven and broil an additional 3-4 minutes making sure not to over cook the fish.

I haven’t but I would worry that the breading would burn if you broiled it. You could definitely add the topping and cook according to you package directions!

I would assume putting the mayo over breaded fish would make the crust soggy. Bake the fish first and then top with mayo, finishing off in the broiler

I have made it twice and the second time I added bread crumbs to the parmesan mixture to ensure some extra crunch. Delicious.

How do you make the Parmesan Squash chips and what kind of squash do you use??

Is the butter in the mixture melted or softened?

Made this for dinner tonight, I didn’t have regular parm so I subistuted the three cheese blend, shredded Parmesan, Romano, and Asiago. All I can say is WOW simply amazing. We grilled it for 7 minutes then finished off in the broiler for a nice crust.

Although I haven’t, you could definitely try it without the mayo! The mixture becomes quite thick and I am sure it would work well!

I bet you coul use Greek yogurt. I use that in place of mayo often.

I made this for dinner last night and it was delicious!!! Very easy to make!!!

Does the butter need to be melted so the mixture will come together and go over tilapia easily?

I’ve heard some less-than savoury rumours about tilapia and the way they are farmed so I’ve always steered clear of it. Does anyone know if you can do this sort of recipe with halibut or haddock? It looks delicious and I definitely want to have a go with it!

I definitely think it would work! Be sure to preheat the toaster oven first.

I would like to make fish but in the past the fish I have had has had a “fishy” taste. I have been told that is because if the fish is not “extremely” fresh it will be that way. Any ideas on cooking this? or is this true? If so, what is a mild fish? It looks really good, I am just extremely nervous about cooking it.

So I made this, replacing mayo with plain Greek yogurt because of IBS, and mayo is a huge trigger “food” for me. Maybe it was because of this, but it didn’t stick well, or spread. Following all the other ingredients, I ended up having to add more seasons because this thing was so very bland. So I put it over rice, added in some garlic and Tony Chacher’s, and at least didn’t have a complete failure of food.

I made this tonight and I must say it was very delicious!!! This recipe is a keeper. I did use grated Parmesan cheese and I did lightly season fish with sea salt and pepper but you don’t even need to the parmesan topping already has so much flavor I wasn’t expecting it to. This is the first time I wrote a review and Im going be honest I wrote it because while I deciding to make it i was reading the reviews and I said to myself these people are just saying its good it’s probably not that good but what the heck i already have everything to make it and don’t have to go to the store. I was wrong though I absolutely love this recipe so simple but so good!!!!

I made this with salmon. Cooked it longer. Used Hellman light mayo, parsley instead of dill, and Promise buttery spread. It was really easy and reall good. Will definitely make it again!
