Sauteed Sweet Plantains

Ingredients

  • 2 Plantains, very ripe
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • optional vanilla or french vanilla icecream (a la mode)

Preparation

Step 1

Cut the ends off the plantains, score lengthwise & remove peel.
Cut in half & slice each half lengthwise into 2 or 3 pieces each.

Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat.
Saute plantains in a single layer, waiting for the 1st side to get golden brown before flipping to brown the other side.

After browning the 2nd side, add cinnamon, vanilla & brown sugar.
Let cook for a few seconds more to carmelize the sugar.

Serve imediately as a side dish or as a dessert topped with icecream.
