vanilla ice cream

Ingredients

  • 2 qt.
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • dash salt
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 4 qt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 3 cups whipping cream
  • 6 qt.
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups half and half
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 5 cups whipping cream

Preparation

Step 1

1. Scald milk until bubbles form around edge. Remove from heat

2. Add sugar and salt. Stir until dissolved.

3. Stir in Half and half. Vanilla and whipping cream

4. Cover and Refrigerate 30 minutes. Freeze as directed.

Variations:

Strawberry: add pureed strawberries (1 1/2 cups for 2 quart recipe), 4 cups for 4 quart recipe, and 6 cups for 6 quart recipe. chill mixture before freezing.

Peach: add pureed peaches same as above

candy supreme: add your favorite chocolate candy during the last 5 to 10 minutes of mixing (1/2 cup for 2 quart, 1 cup for 4 quart, 2 cups for 6 quart.)
