Ingredients

  • for topping:
  • 2 t unsalted butter
  • 3/4 c pano bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp dried or fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper
  • For pasta:
  • 1 lb pasta shapes
  • 6 T unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/4 t cayenne pepper
  • 6 T. Flour
  • 21/4 c chicken broth
  • 3 1/2 c milk
  • 1 lb Colby jack,shredded
  • 8 oz extra sharp cheddar,shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • (Best to shred own cheese)
  • Topping directions-melt butter in skillet,add pinko,stir frequently until light golden brown.remove from heat and season w parsley and salt and pepper. Set aside to cool.

Preparation

Step 1

oven preheat to 400*. Bring large pot of salted water to boil. Add pasta and cook until just begin to soften.approx 5 min. Drain
Return pot to heat-melt butter over med.-stir in garlic,dry mustard and cayenne,cooking until fragrant ..whisk in flour and cook until golden. Whisk in chicken broth and milk and cont to heat until thickens.
Remove from heat and add cheeses. ,,,stirring ,add seasonings-you can reserve handful of cheese for top. Stir drained pasta into mixture into 13x9 pan bake at 30-35 min. Add reserved cheese and bake until golden. Add golden bread crumbs as topping and serve ,
