Ingredients

  • 2

    tablespoon(s) olive oil

  • 1

    onion, chopped

  • 2

    stalk(s) celery, chopped

  • 3

    clove(s) garlic, finely chopped

  • 2

    teaspoon(s) dried thyme

  • 2

    teaspoon(s) dried oregano

  • 1

    stick(s) (small) cinnamon

  • Kosher salt

  • Pepper

  • pound(s) lean ground turkey

  • 3

    cup(s) low-sodium marinara sauce

  • 12

    ounce(s) whole-wheat linguine

  • teaspoon(s) ground nutmeg

  • Chopped fresh basil

  • Grated Parmesan, for serving

Directions

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, celery and garlic; cook, covered, stirring occasionally, for 6 minutes. Add the thyme, oregano, cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper; cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Add the marinara sauce and 1/2 cup water and simmer until the mixture is slightly thickened and the turkey tender, 20 to 25 minutes. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot. Discard the cinnamon from turkey mixture, stir in the nutmeg and toss with the pasta. Serve with basil and Parmesan, if desired.
