Chinese Honey Chili Chicken

By adding dried red peppers it make an easy and quick General Tso's Chicken.

  • 4

    chicken breasts (no skin, no bones)cut into 1" chunks

  • ¾

    cup flour

  • salt

  • oil for deep frying

  • 1

    " piece of ginger

  • 1

    clove garlic minced

  • 1-2

    tablespoons honey or agave nectar

  • cup water

  • 2

    teaspoons cornstarch

  • 1

    tablespoon Chinese chili sauce

  • cup lemon juice

  • 2

    teaspoons soy sauce

  • 3

    green onion sliced on a slant about ½" pieces


To make sauce: in a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup combine; cornstarch, honey, water, chili sauce, lemon juice and soy sauce. Blend till smooth. Put salted flour in large zip lock bag shake to mix. After you've rinsed off chicken pieces and patted dry, place in bag with flour and shake again to coat chicken. Shake off extra flour from chicken. Using large skillet or wok, heat oil and chicken until golden. Remove and drain on paper towel. Next pour off excess oil leaving about 1 tablespoon in pan. Add ginger and garlic and stir for 1 minute. Next pour the sauce in pan and bring to a boil and thickens. Add the chicken pieces and green onion. Toss in sauce for 3 minutes or until everything is heated and coated.
