The Bag Lady's Favorite Chocolate Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 c flour
  • 1/2 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 5 T cocoa
  • 1 c butter, softened
  • 1/2 c veg shortening
  • 3 c sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 1 T pure vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven 325*. Grease & flour 10" bundt pan.

Sift together flour, soda, powder, salt, & cocoa; set aside. Using an electric mixer, cream together butter, shortening, and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition. Add flour and buttermilke alternately to butter mixture, begining and ending with flour. Add vanilla & mix well. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 1 3/4 hours or until cake done. Remove from oven and allow cake to cool in pan for 10 min. Invert onto cake plate & serve.
