Beef/Lamb/Turkey Kofta Patties

Ingredients

  • Kofta:
  • 2 lbs ground meat (beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, or any combo thereof)
  • 1 onion, grated (food processor's grater works great)
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
  • 3 T fresh mint, chopped
  • 3/4 C fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 3/4 t dried coriander
  • 1/4 t allspice
  • 1 1/2-1 3/4 t salt
  • 1/2 t black pepper
  • Yogurt sauce: (or just buy pre-made Tzatziki sauce)
  • 2 c plain yogurt
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
  • Handful fresh mint, chopped
  • Diced cucumber (opt)
  • Flat bread or pita
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Feta cheese
  • Lettuce

Preparation

Step 1

(If skewering, soak skewers in water for at least 30 min)

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl (don't overmix or meat will toughen). Form into patties (or meatball/sausage shapes and thread those onto soaked skewers). Grill until cooked through.

Serve with flat bread or pita, top with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, yogurt sauce and feta cheese.
