Chinese Fried Walnuts

Ingredients

  • 4 C walnuts
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • vegetable oil
  • salt

Preparation

Step 1

Add walnuts to boiling water. Return water to a boil and cook 1 minute. Rinse walnuts under running hot water; drain.
In large bowl, gently stir warm walnuts with sugar until sugar is dissolved.
Heat 1 inch vegetable oil in electric skillet to 350°. With a slotted spoon, add walnuts to oil. Fry 10 minutes or until golden, stirring often. With slotted spoon place walnuts in sieve to drain.
Sprinkle lightly with salt and toss. Transfer to paper towels to cool.
