- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 medium granny smith apple, chopped
- 1 small onion, slivered
- 2 cups cold-packed sauerkraut- good quality, not canned (well rinsed and drained)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown beer
- 1/8 tea pepper
- 1/2 tea caraway seed
MELT butter in large skillet.
SAUTE apples and onions over medium heat until well browned
ADD sauerkraut to pan and sprinkle sugar, pepper and caraway seeds
ADD beer and stir all ingredients to combine.
COVER skillet and lower heat to low.
COOK, stirring occasionally, until well caramelized
WHEN a nice deep golden color, remove from heat and let sit.
