Shrimp Marinade

A delicious citrus based sauce that provides a tangy zing to grilled shrimp or shrimp kabobs. Makes an excellent shrimp for fajitas.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 2 pounds peeled and deveined raw shrimp
  • 2 large garlic cloves minced
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • metal or wood skewers (soak wooden skewers for 30 mins in water)

Preparation

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a small pan over medium low heat, add garlic and heat until fragrant - 1 minute or so. Remove from pan from heat, add remaining ingredients and whisk well until all ingredients are dissolved. Add shrimp to a large plastic bowl with tight fitting lid. Pour marinade over shrimp, stir to coat and let set for 15 - 20 minutes.

Thread shrimp on skewers (soak wooden skewers for 30 mins in water) Grill over medium high heat about 5 minutes per side or until firm and pink on both sides.

Serve immediately with your favorite sides - Suggestion: guacamole, salsa, grilled veggies, cheese and tortilla's for shrimp fajita's
