Butter Cookies for Candy Canes

  • 1 cup soft butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Preparation

Step 1

Mix together butter sugar and egg. Stir in vanilla. Sift together and stir in four and baking powder.

Chill dough. Roll very thin (1/16”) and bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 425 for 5-7 minutes. Makes 7 dozen.

Or color 1/2 dough red and roll into tubes. Roll white dough into tubes and twist together to form candy cane shapes.
