Puddle Cake

Ingredients

  • Frosting:
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3 Tablespoons cocoa
  • 6 Tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 1 box (4 1/2 cups) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Let margarine, Crisco, cocoa and water come to a boil and pour over flour, sugar and soda
Blend together and add eggs buttermilk and vanilla.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 400. Frost while warm.

Frosting:
Melt margarine, cocoa and evaporated milk. Add confectioners sugar and beat until smooth. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and pecans. Ice cake in pan fresh from oven.
