Preparation
Step 1
Peel, Core and thickly slice pie apples. Cook with water-enough to barely cover- and sugar and spices to taste. After apples have cooked enough to flavor the water remove 1 ½ cups of water and set aside. Allow apples to cook to a chunky sauce state and in another pan use cornstarch and removed juice to make a rue, adding juice slowly until thicken. Add butter or butter sprinkles. Swirl some of this mixture through the sauce. Remove to serving dish and pour remaining cornstarch mixture over apples. Serve warm or cold. Warm is best.
