Ingredients

  • 1 lb Northern Beans
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • Brown sugar to taste
  • 6 slices bacon

Step 1

Let beans soak overnight in water. Empty water and refill with clean water just enough to cover them. This will take along time until beans are about half done add baking soda slowly. Be careful when adding baking soda this will over flow the pot if add too quickly. Finish cooking until bean is tender. Add brown sugar to taste. Bake with bacon on top for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Then let set for 30 mins to thicken up.
