Ingredients

  • 1 sticks butter
  • 2 c sugar
  • 5 c flour
  • 2 t baking soda
  • 2 t cream of tartar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c oil
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 2 t vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Mix all dry ingredients together.
Mix in dry ingredients in 3 additions.
Roll dough into balls.
Dip cookies in sugar.
Butter the bottom of a flat bottom drinking glass and flatten cookies slightly.
Place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart

Bake at 350 for 9 to 9 1/2 minutes or until the edges just begin to get tan. Do not overbake.
