Apple Struesel Bars

Ingredients
- Sweet Pastry:
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 egg, beaten
- Apple filling:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 cups (about 3-4 medium) sliced, peeled, baking apples
- Glaze:
- 1-2 cups powdered sugar
- 1-3 Tbsp. milk
- 1/2-1 tsp. vanilla extract
- (Amount made will depend on how sweet you like the dessert)

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350.
To prepare crust: Mix flour sugar, salt, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Cut in butter to pea size crumbles. Gently mix in beaten egg. Spray a 9x13" baking dish. Pour 2/3 of the crumb mixture in the bottom and press.
To make apple pie filling: Combine flour, sugar, and cinnamon. Toss in apples and spread on prepared crust. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over top and bake for 40-50 minutes. Allow to cool.
Prepare glaze by mixing sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over top. Allow to harden and cut into bars.
