Flaky Apple Pecan Torte

Ingredients

  • 1 15 oz. pkg of refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on pkg.
  • 3 med granny smith apples, peeled, cut into 1/2 in. pieces
  • 3 T. sugar
  • 2 T. flour
  • 2 1/2 t. cinnamon
  • 1 T. butter
  • 2 t. vanilla
  • 1 can supreme coconut pecan frosting
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 450 degrees. Unfold both pie crusts, cut each in half. Place crust halves onto greased cookie sheets, pricking ea. with fork. Bake for 6-8 mins. or until golden brown. Let cool while preparing filling.
In lge. microwavable bowl, combine apples, sugar,flour,cinnamon,butter & vanilla. Mix well & cover. Microwave on hi for 3 mins., stir microwave for 3-6 mins. or until apples are tender, stirring once thru cooking process.
Place 1/2 c. of frosting in small microwave bowl & set aside. Add the remaining can of frosting to cooked apple mixture, stirring until apples are well coated.
Place one crust half in center of cookie sheet, spread with 1/3 of mixture, sprinkle with 1/4 c. pecans. Put 2nd crust on top, repeat layers ending with the 4th crust on top. Cover loosely with foil, bake an additional 1-2 mins. or until golden brown.
Microwave reserved frosting for 20-30 seconds or until melted. Pour over the top of the torte, making sure to spread to the edges, sprinkle with remainder of the pecans.
Cool 15 mins. before serving.
