Ingredients
- 4 to 5 large spicy pickles, sliced into chips
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Canola oil for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Stir together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium-sized bowl.
In a small bowl, whisk egg and buttermilk together. Then, add to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
Heat the oil to 370 degrees Fahrenheit.
Dip pickles in the batter and carefully place in the hot oil. Cook for 2-4 minutes, turning as needed. Work in batches of 8-10 chips at a time.
Remove from oil and place on paper-lined plate. Salt lightly.
Serve hot.
