Fudge Cake

Ingredients

  • Cake:
  • 1/2 C buttermilk
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs slightly beaten
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 C water
  • 2 C sugar
  • 2 C flour
  • 4 Tbls cocoa
  • Icing:
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/3 C milk
  • 3 tsp vanilla
  • 4 Tbls Cocoa
  • 2 2/3 C powdered sugar (1 box)
  • (I add about 1 tsp cinnamon to icing)
  • Nuts - optional

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees (glass pan at 325 degrees)

Bring to boil 2 sticks butter and 1 C water; boil until blended and pour over these items sifted -2 C sugar, 2 C flour, 4 Tbls cocoa.

Add the following:
1/2 C buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs slightly beaten
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Bake in greased and floured pan for 30 minutes

Icing:
Melt butter and add remaining ingredients - pour on warm cake.
