Ingredients

  • 2/3 c whole milk
  • 5 T sugar, divided
  • 1 3/4 t active dry yeast
  • 2 large eggs, room temp
  • 2 3/4 c all purpose flour
  • 1 t kosher salt
  • 1/2 c unsalted butter, cut into 1" pieces, room temp
  • plus 1/2 T melted

Preparation

Step 1

Heat milk to 110-115 F, Add 1 T sugar, yeast mix. Let sit until yeast is foamy - about 5 minutes. Add eggs. Whisk until smooth.

Combine 4 T sugar, flour and salt in mixer with dough hook. Add milk mixture. With mixer running add 1/2 c RT butter, 1 piece at a time, blending well between additions. Mix on medium speed for 1 minute. Knead until dough is soft and silky - about 5 minutes.

Coat bowl with melted butter, cover dough with butter. Cover with plastic wrap. If making sticky buns, chill dough for 2 hours.
