Ingredients

  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or ground turkey breast
  • 1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped Italian (flat leaf) parsley
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh sage
  • 1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp honey

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375. Line baking pan with parchment paper, set aside.
In large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onions and reduce heat so they cook gently without browning. Sauté for 8 minutes or until onions are translucent. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

In large bowl mix together onion mixture, beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt, cheese, parsley, sage, and pepper. Shape meatloaf into loaf on prepared pan. Bake for 35 minutes. Brush top and sides of loaf with honey. Bake for 10 minutes more or until done (165 degrees).
