Homemade Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Treats

The parsley in these treats makes them a secret breath freshener for your pooch; substitute dried mint for half of the parsley if you like. You can adjust the size of the treats for small or large dogs, baking them a few minutes less or more.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana, peeled
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup dried parsley (or substitute dried mint for half of the parsley using 1/4 cup each of the dried parsley and 1/4 cup dried mint)
  • 3 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 egg, beaten

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees
2. Put banana in a large bowl and use a spoon or potato masher to mash it thoroughly.
3. Add oat flour, oats, parsley (mint if using that too), peanut butter and egg to mashed banana
4. Stir well to combine.
5. Set aside for five minutes.
6. Roll mixture into 24 balls, using about 1 tablespoon dough for each.
7. Transfer to large parchment paper-lined baking sheet as done.
8. Using the back of a spoon or the heel of your hand to press each ball into a (1-1/2 to 2-inch) coin.
9. Bake until firm and deep golden brown on the bottom, 40-45 minutes.
10. Set aside to let cool completely.

Store in airtight container in refrigerator or freeze until you want to use.
