Cups Onions, finely chopped

Mix flour, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt. Mix very well. Then add milk. Stir vigorously to make a nice, heavy batter. Add onions to the batter and stir vigorously. Drop by spoonful into a deep skillet of fat. Turnover in the skillet until each side is golden. Flatten them after in turn them.
