Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375° F.
Line sheet pans with parchment
Toast walnuts in the preheated 375 degree oven. Spread walnuts on sheet pan and toast for approximately 6-7 min until walnuts are a toasty brown. Attention, watch carefully and check often. Turn out on a cutting board to cool.
Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cardamom and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl until light and creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually beat in flour mixture along with milk. Stir in oats. Add morsels, nuts and cherries mix just until incorporated. This dough is quite soft but if it seems a bit too wet add a tiny bit more flour.
Using a scant 1/4 cup of dough, form ball with dampened hands and place about 3" apart on parchment covered cookie sheet. When cookie sheet is full, lightly press each cookie down with the palm of your hand. You may want to dampen your hand for this also.
Bake for 10 to 14 minutes. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minute; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
