Ingredients
- Filling:
- 1/2 cup creamed small curd cottage cheese
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
- Dash cinnamon
- 1/3 recipe sweet roll dough
- 1 egg
Preparation
Step 1
With pastry wheel or sharp knife, cut dough lengthwise into 8-1/2" wide strips. Twist ends of each strip in opposite directions. On prepared cookie sheet coil each twisted strip of dough, not too tightly, beginning with one end of strip to form a round 2-1/2"-3" in diameter. Seal end firmly underneath. Press with finger to make an indentation in center of each. Fill each with heaping teaspoonfuls of cheese filling. Let rise uncovered in a warm place, free from drafts until double in bulk about 1 hour. Meanwhile prepare oven to 350 degrees. With fork, beat egg yolk slightly with 1 tablespoon water. Use to brush tops of rolls. Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown.
