Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 Cups Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Margarine
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Nuts
  • 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 2 Beaten Eggs
  • 1 Cup Applesauce or Apple Butter
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 1/2 Cup Raisins (optional)

Step 1

In a bowl, combine 3/4 cup of flour and sugar; cut in margarine. For topping, remove 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture; stir in nuts and cinnamon. Set aside. To remaining crumb mixture, add remaining flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Add eggs, applesauce or apple butter, and vanilla; beat until well blended. If desired, stir in raisins. Pour into a greased 9" square baking dish. Sprinkle topping on batter. Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Serve warm.
