Ambrosia Macaroons 1 Picture


  • 1/2 cup ( 1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2 tsps finely grated orange peel
  • 3 large eggs
  • 6 cups firmly packed sweetened flaked coconut
  • 6 oz bittersweet chocolate, melted



Step 1

1 Preheat oven to 325, lined cookie sheets with parchment
2.Using electric mixer, beat butter in large bowl until smooth
3.Add sugar and slat;beat until blended. Beat in orange peel. then eggs, 1 egg at a time. Mix in coconut
4. Drop batter onto sheets by tablespoons, spacing 1 1/2 inches apart
5.Bake macaroons , one sheet at a time, until golden on bottom and browned in spots, 25-30 minutes
6. Cool completely on sheets
7. using fork, drizzle chocolate over macaroons. Chill on sheets till chocolate is set
8. Store in a container with wax paper between layers
