Tomato Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 large onion,chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
  • 1 28 oz can of tomato's (quartered)
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 1 6 oz can of tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of instant beef bouillon
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of crushed basil
  • 1/8 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 1 14 oz can of sliced mushrooms
  • Spaghetti

Preparation

Step 1

In a large 3-quart Saucepan heat oil. Cook the garlic and onion over medium low heat for 5 min. until onion is tender ( not brown). Remove saucepan from heat. Add tomato's, water, tomato paste, sugar,beef bouillon, crushed oregano,salt, pepper, basil,oregano and bay leaf stir to mix. Bring mixture to a boil then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 1 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours stirring occasionally. Remove and discard bay leaf.
Stir in undrained mushrooms and simmer 15- 30 minutes

Tip: Use kitchen shears to cut up tomatoes. Do not drain tomato juice!
