Marinara Magnifica

Ingredients

  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 6 c. chopped onion (3 med.)
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 1/2 c. dry red wine
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. dried marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 6 crushed garlic cloves
  • 2 (28oz.) cans undrained crushed tomatoes
  • 2 (14.5oz.) cans undrained diced tomatoes
  • 2 (6oz.) cans tomato paste

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oil in a dutch oven over med. heat. Add onion and sugar. Cook 30 minutes or until golden, stirring occasionally. Stir in wine, cook 1 min. Add remaining ingredients, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 3 hours stirring occasionally.
