French Toast Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf challah or brioche
  • 1/3 c. heavy cream
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 c. chopped pecans-optional

Preparation

Step 1

Whisk all ingredients together and dip slices of bread into mixture and place in 9x13 baking dish overlapping slices. Pour remaining batter over the top. Refrigerate covered for at least 2 hours. Preheat oven to 375 top with pecans and 3 Tbs. suger. Bake, covered with foil for 25 mins. remove foil and bake until golden brown 20-25 mins. more. Serve with Maple syrup.
