ALMOND JOY BROWNIES

Ingredients

  • 13 x 9 inch greased pan
  • Cake Filling Topping
  • _ c. butter _ c. sugar 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4-1 oz. sq. baking chocolate 1 c. evaporated skim milk _ c. sugar
  • 1 c. applesauce 24 large marshmallows _ c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar 1-14 oz. pkg. coconut _ c. evaporated skim milk
  • 2 eggs _ c. toasted slivered almonds
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

cake: In sauce pan over low heat, melt butter & chocolate. Add applesauce, sugar, eggs, flour, & vanilla. Mix well. Turn into greased pan. Bake 30 min. @ 350 or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool slightly.

For Filling: In a sauce pan, combine sugar, milk & marshmallows, cook & stir until marshmallows are dissolved, BUT be careful not to burn the filling!! Add coconut and mix well. Spread on cake.

For Topping: In a sauce pan, combine chocolate chips, sugar, butter & milk. Cook and stir until chips are melted. Spread over coconut mixture. Top with toasted almonds.
