Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 cup shortening
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
• 3 cups sifted flour
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 cup buttermilk
• 1 6oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Cream together shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Blend in vanilla. Sift together flour and baking soda. Add dry ingredients alternating with buttermilk to creamed mixture. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonful about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets or parchment paper. Bake in 350 degree oven for 12-15 mins. or until done. Remove and cool on racks.
