Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 egg whites (beaten)
  • 2 1/2 c/ flour
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 2 1/2 t. baking powder
  • 1 c. water or milk
  • 4 T. burnt sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar.

Add vanilla and egg yolks.

Beat until fluffy.

Add dry ingredients alternately with liquid.

Beat well after each addition.

Add burnt sugar.

Fold in egg whites.

This is a thin batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for approx 30 min.

Frosting:

2 egg whites
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. burnt sugar
2 t. water
1/8 t. salt
1 t. vanilla

Combine in the double pan and cook beating continuous till forms peaks about 7 min. Then ice cake.
