Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 t vanilla
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/3 cup puréed tomatoes
- 2 1/2 cups cake flour
- 1/2 cup dry cocoa
- 1 1/2 t baking soda
- 1 t salt
Preparation
Step 1
Cream first 6 ingredients including yolks
Beat whites until the are stiff then fold in
Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture
Bake in greased and floured 8 1/2 inch round pans at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes
Frost with chocolate better frosting
Top with strawberries
