Date Nut Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 c. dates (diced)
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 T. butter
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 3 t. baking powder
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Combine first 3 ingredients. Cover and cool.

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.

Beat sugar and egg together and add to dates alternately with sifted dry ingredients.

Add nuts.

Pour into greased loaf pan. Let stand for 20 min.

Bake at 325 degrees for 50 to 60 min.
