Ingredients
- 1 cups sifted cake flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg (at room temperature)
- 2 squares unsweetened bakers chocolate, melted
Preparation
Step 1
Place 2/3 cup milk into mixing bowl. Add dry ingredients and shortening. Beat vigorously for 2 minutes. (Start on slow speed so dry ingredients will stay in bowl.)
Add remaining milk, unbeaten egg, melted chocolate. Beat for 2 minutes. Pour into 8" layer round pans (wax paper lined or sprayed with Pam grease) or a 9" x 13" pan (sometimes referred to as a 1/4 sheet pan). Bake at 325 for 40 minutes or until done.
