Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 cup molases
- 1/8 cup water
- 1 cup raisins
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Beat eggs, remove a tablespoon of egg and save for later. Cream rest of egg, shortening, and sugars (reg & brown). Sift flour, salt, baking soda, and spices. Add to creamed mixture. Add water, molasses, raisins, and nuts. Chill dough.
Using floured hands spread dough onto cookie sheet in 4 strips. Brush reserved egg onto top of cookies.
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes, cool slightly and cut into pieces. Do not over bake.
Yield 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
