Ingredients
- 3/4 c sugar
- 1/4 c cornstarch
- 1 T unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/8 t salt
- 1 1/2 c whole milk
- 1 c heavy whipping cream
- 4 egg yolks
- 8 (1 oz) squares semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 T butter
- 1 t vanilla extract
Preparation
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, cocoa and salt. In a medium bowl, combine milk, cream and egg yolks, whisking until smooth. Add milk mixture to sugar mixture, whisking until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, for about 3-4 minutes, or until mixture is thickened. Remove from heat; add chocolate, butter and vanilla, stirring until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Spoon pudding into a medium bowl; place plastic wrap directly on warm pudding (to prevent a film from forming). Chill for at least 3 hours before serving.
